When I book my next ownership stay (7 nights/2 bedroom) I am bringing more of my family than usual and was wondering if it was possible to upgrade to a 3 bedroom using bonvoy points? or cash? This stay is not booked yet as it will be in January 2021 and I am just gathering information to weigh my options. Whether I book another room at WKORV, or am able to get a 3 bedroom at Nanea (best option) will be my main two options. Please advise anything that may help me plan this trip. If possible, does anybody know how many points/dollars to do so?

I may end up referring my adult children to the friends benefit program and get them the WKORV package with the rental car, but it would be best to have us all in the same resort.

thoughts anyone?

Thank you

You also are unable to upgrade an ownership week with cash since ownership weeks/days are only bookable with Home Resort Options or StarOptions.

appreciate the input. worth a shot. I thought I recalled seeing a 'menu' on my last stay there that showed what could be purchased with bonvoy points, as far as amenities and upgrades. I thought I saw a 3 br option on there, but I could be remembering it incorrectly. And it has been a while, so it may not even exist anymore. probably didn't apply to owners anyway. no worries, it's still Hawaii!! and now I get my adult children to be at KORV, so we'll have at least a LITTLE more peace and quiet.. lol

You might explore using your 2-bedroom ownership week and adding a Bonvoy points reservation for a 1-bedroom unit at Nanea.

You can reserve WKORV with Bonvoy points, but it will depend on availability and it would take a boatful of points (think: aircraft carrier) to reserve a three bedroom Nanea unit -- if one is even available.

I thought about that, but that would waste my ownership week. I DO have about a half million Bonvoy points, but that doesn't sound like the best use. either booking a second room using points or using the referral program to get a studio and a car for 800.00 sounds like the best bets.. I'll regroup and see what is best for all of us.

thank you!

I thought about that too, but the studio at WKORV is cheaper than the one bedroom at Nanea and easier to book. Seems like a waste to get the one bedroom at Nanea for more points and not get the large bathtub.

If you use the referral program, you will need to carefully prepare your kids for the sales pitch.

But they may never forgive you nonetheless.

(They will claim they paid for the trip by sitting through the presentation.)

Oh, I've prepared them.. They are thinking about spending a whole day doing timeshare presentations at all the resorts (Marriott, Hyatt, Diamond) and fill the next day with all the free excursions. I keep telling them they're insane and it would waste a day, but they are not as well off and think it will give them one helluva day to enjoy things they don't want to pay for. At least my son would get his money's worth at the Luau. he's ex navy and can probably drink his weight in alcohol.. LOL...

I had a similar situation this past January. Reserved a 2 bedroom Nanea for 4 of us and a 1 bedroom at WKORVN for adult children. I had enough star options for both reservations. It worked just fine. We all hung out at Nanea pools and beach most days and grilled out dinners. The adult children walked the 3 minutes to WKORVN to sleep each night.

You might be able to borrow star options from future year to cover 3 bedroom or you might be able to purchase additional star options, check with Vistana to see if these options are available to you.
