Our April travel plans were changed and I am left looking for options for our April vacation. We are from New England and by that time of year I am looking for some warm sun on my face. Doesn't have to be hot - but warm enough for maybe some outside pool time.

While searching RCI, I came across a unit at Holiday Inn VC - South Beach and put it on hold. Now, I'm doing research.

We have never explored any of the Carolina's. 2 adults with 1 child. Don't need a ton of activities....but we do need some to keep the kid entertained.

Any thoughts on this? (Or heck, at this point I will take other suggestions also). Thanks

We were there for our first visit in early Dec. The resort is nice and the pools were open, but almost no one was in them. We saw 2 women in the pool once. How old is your child? I don't know what to recommend so I'll speak in generalities.

When we were there, places were closing for the season everywhere but they seemed to be planning to open again in Feb. or March, so that would be OK with your schedule.

The water will be cold, but the beach is wonderful for long walks. There is a state park just down the road. There are walking trails and a great pier for fishing or watching. We saw dolphins in the water on multiple occasions.

Miniature golf places are everywhere. So are real golf courses. We took a side trip to Hobcaw Barony and enjoyed it. Ate lunch in Georgetown. You can also take a day trip, or longer, to Charleston.

Broadway at the Beach is more than just a shopping center - it's a huge tourist draw. There is an aquarium there, and Wonder Works, an upside down house.

Also theater shows at a number of theaters, including a pirate show. All had Christmas shows when we were there.

So, there's quite a bit to do, but swimming may be out of the question.

MB in April

Swimming in MB in April is probably not an option other than a heated pool. But there is much to do for kids and parents. Most places should be open. So far, we're having a fairly warm winter in coastal SC. Certainly not like the two prior winters. Not familiar with the resort you are looking at. But you should enjoy a stay in the area if you are not set on swimming in the ocean or non-heated pools.

Thanks all - I let my hold lapse when I priced it out via holiday inn website and found the RCI extra vacation to actually cost more!

I have a 2BR Marriott already in place in Orlando - but it really wasn't giving me any thrills to go there AGAIN. But, just found out friends will be there the same week.....so it won't be that bad after all.

Still keeping Myrtle Beach as an option for another trip!

We have been to Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island in April. Swimming can be questionable. The one year in Myrtle Beach we were able to use the pools most days. The other year in HHI, we only swam once or twice in the pools, but it wasn't easy. You could have great sunny weather where it is warm, or it could be the opposite and be rather cool. If you want consistently warm weather, you need to wait about a month later.

Try searching Tug's Market or Redweek for Marriott's Ocean Watch Villas.
In addition to the ocean it has heated outdoor pools as well as an indoor pool.
Lots of kids activities (on site). Also a zillion things to do off site.
