Buddy of mine says Myrtle Beach is "shutting down" again.

Any info?

Where do people get this kind of information??? We live nearby and I can assure you that there is NO shutting down happening here. Same kind of rules that have been in place for over a month. Wear a mask in stores, masks to enter a restaurant, but off once at table, masks in church, kids are starting off the school year with various options - depending on the severity of cases it will be learn at home, go to school a few days or week, or all classroom instruction. Parents can opt to keep their kids from going into school at all. As far as CCU, they are expecting students and I'm sure will have a mix of classes. I go to HGTC and I am attending some classes on campus and some virtually. In fact the Governor recently gave permission for some venues such as larger entertainment venues to reopen with restrictions.

They get it from a friend! We are closing on a home in NMB next week so we have also been keeping close tabs on the location. Gossip gets started on message boards everyday. How else would we keep up to date?

Do you consider the Myrtle Beach website link a gossip board?

Heading to Marriott Ocean Watch on Friday....is it a bad idea. Plan to stay mostly at resort. Take out. Beach and Pools. Any shark sightings? Live on Long Island, lots her and our ocean water is no where as warm.

I thought if you are from New York you will have to self quarantine when you get back. As long as that isn't a problem I guess you will be okay.

As of right now if you travel from South Carolina to New York you would have to self quarantine for 14 days.

Nope, but there was nothing in the original link that showed they were closing down again! what was on the list was a compilation of actions taken so far, not just on 8/4/20. The mayor of MB recently EXTENDED the covid guidelines for another 30 days. No new shutdown.

The weather here right now is pretty hot. Keep an eye out for any developing tropical storms. We have been a few times to the beach quite recently a little up from where you are staying and the water was absolutely fantastic. I've been to MOW a few times and I do love that pool of theirs. I think the crowds have started to subside a little. This week we ate at a German restaurant and only 3 tables were in use. Same yesterday at Bonefish. Of course we eat early at 530 to 600. There is a bakery right next to the Hook and Barrel that is pretty good. I am not a fan of the H and B restaurant though. Every day, when I stayed at MOW, I walked to Starbucks, but I'm not sure if you can go inside to order or not.

Enjoy your visit and make sure to socially distance, wear your mask in stores/entering restaurants and wash you hands frequently. We carry around a little bottle of alcohol and always use it before we eat and especially after touch anything. While this is of course subject to change, but today the cases in Horry County were 27.....I am pretty sure 4th of July weekend it was over 300 one day...yikes! Sorry if you have to quarantine when you get back.....hopefully you work at home.

Have Fun!

David
