Glad I am not an impacted owner/guest. Wonder how the exchange companies are handling it?

“Timeshare owners and guests staying at the Beach House Golf and Racquet Club were told on Thursday that they had to leave due to structural damage.

Capital Vacations Resort Management, which manages the resort, told WMBF the decision was made by the Beach House’s Board of Directors on July 6. Capital Vacations said it was done out of “an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of the Beach House owners, guests, and employees.””

saw a news blurb about it, but it didnt give the resort name.

that certainly doesnt sound like a situation that will clear itself up "next week" either

I can vaguely remember a Sunday School ditty about building houses on the sand.

Ruh-roh. We own a late summer week there ... planned to use it ourselves ... haven't received any notice from anyone.

UPDATE: This timeshare may be toast. Got an email from Capital asking whether we'd prefer they close, or be liable for huge assessments. I answered close, and I'm betting many owners, being of the older generation, will say the same thing. Capital didn't mention whether owners'd get anything back if we relinquish, and I'm guessing they don't plan on that, being the behemoth that they are. A TUGger gave me this very summer week (we had been a previous Beach House owner long ago -- in fact it was our very first timeshare, a cheap resale which got us many many fabulous RCI trades plus many weeks of almost-free bonus time). I'm not too disappointed, even tho we only got to use it once this time after paying 2x maintenance fees ... but in our older age, we did enjoy just sitting on our ocean-front rocking chair balcony and watching the beautiful Atlantic, and shore birds gathering right there, in-between a few short trips down to the beach to gather sharks teeth, and meals at Sea Captain's House. If we'd been there this week, we'd be sitting out a few days of tropical storm or hurricane ...

Saw the attached on a Google Search. Expedia says the Beach House Golf and Rac will be closed through June of 2025. I don’t know ‍♀️ how true this is.

Just a report back. We chose the $250 payoff in exchange for our late-summer week (my favorite season at MB) deed, just received and deposited. Many owners chose that option, while many other owners are holding out for either repair (unlikely to ever continue as a timeshare IMO) or pro-rated portion of sale -- not sure how it will all go. Many many owners have been, and are still, enraged and broken-hearted over this; personally I mostly feel disappointment. Capital Vacations is in the middle of all that, boo hiss to them, and I would advise against ever acquiring a timeshare they have taken over.

The fact that someone is coughing up $250 to take over your deed and obligations suggests there is $$ here.

How can they do anything if the following from the article is true?

"However, board members do not think it’s possible to raise the money since only 20 percent of owners are in good standing and paying fees."

What is the appraised value of the land and this building property ?

Can the board used these two (2) items to secure a loan?

I bet some hedge fund company is watching and waiting to purchase this property.

Is this a water front timeshare property and where is it located in MB?
