1) Is there a vacation destination you wish to visit most of the time or on a regular basis? if so where?

We visit Orlando quite often, but I think going forward we want to start exploring a different state for each trip or possibly a new country.

2) Do you want to visit your home resort at least half the time, or do you want to trade more than half the time?

I’d probably do something more along the lines of 1/4 time at home and rest elsewhere. This is just based on current thought.

3) What are your 5 top trade destinations?

Hawaii
California
Somewhere on east coast?
Um really any states
Islands…
4) How many people do you usually travel with - total, including yourself?

My immediate family is 4 people but we often bring one set of grandparents along too

5) Can you travel any time, or are you locked into the school schedule?

school schedule

6) Can you make firm plans 12 or more mos. in advance?

Yes we can

7) Can you vacation for a full week at a time?

we can

8) What level of accommodations do you prefer on a scale of 1 to 5 stars?

I prefer upscale because on a vacation so usually 4 stars makes me happy

9) How much can you afford to spend upfront, without financing?

$35,000 but I’d prefer not to go that high if I can

10) How much can you afford to spend every year for a maintenance fee that will come due right after Christmas, and increase each year?

3-5k

11) Are you a detail oriented planner?
I can be

12) Do you understand that once you buy a timeshare, it may be very difficult to sell or give away, and you are responsible for all fees, until you do?

Yes.

we are currently at Wyndham bonnet creek right now. We also tried renting at dvc once. It is clear that the cost benefits at Wyndham is better than dvc for what you get in terms of rooms. However, wife is a Disney nut. We realize at some point the boys will grow out of Disney so we are casting our net wide and like the idea of doing a different state or resort each time we go out. It is a matter of giving the boys a lot of exposure.

You would probably do well with one of the hotel-based systems (Marriott, Vistana, Hyatt, etc.) for quality reasons as well as for flexibility.

But I suggest that you rent a couple more times before buying anything. It will help you assess what you like, what you need, size of unit, amenities, what you're willing to pay for, etc.

Take your time; resale prices are not going up.
