We went to a club Wyndham presentation here in Hawaii on our first ever vacation. And it looked very tempting, but we said no in order to do more research and of course learned about the resale market.

1) Is there a vacation destination you wish to visit most of the time or on a regular basis? if so where?

Hawaii and Destin Florida

2) Do you want to visit your home resort at least half the time, or do you want to trade more than half the time?

Unsure, we will live about an hour from Destin so I have the feeling we would use it more, but we would like to come to Hawaii every year or every other year.

3) What are your 5 top trade destinations?

Branson mo, Cayman Islands, Mexico I don’t know what else to say because I’ve never really traveled much.

4) How many people do you usually travel with - total, including yourself?

You 2 to 4

5) Can you travel any time, or are you locked into the school schedule?

Anytime

6) Can you make firm plans 12 or more mos. in advance?

Yes

7) Can you vacation for a full week at a time?

Yes

8) What level of accommodations do you prefer on a scale of 1 to 5 stars? 3-5

9) How much can you afford to spend upfront, without financing?

$5000

10) How much can you afford to spend every year for a maintenance fee that will come due right after Christmas, and increase each year?

$200-300 (I thought maintenance fees stayed the same at least with Windham, which we are looking at purchasing resale)

11) Are you a detail oriented planner?

Somewhat

12) Do you understand that once you buy a timeshare, it may be very difficult to sell or give away, and you are responsible for all fees, until you do?

Yes

Unless it was a typo, no way you will find a timeshare with an annual maintenance fee of $200-$300.

Wyndham points with program fees run $6-$10 per 1,000. Some might be higher than $10/ 1,000. In other words, maintenance fees are not all the same, not at all.

For a week in a 2 bedroom at Bali Hai, it's about 308,000 points. You can look at point charts on clubwyndham.wyndhamdestinations.com That week will cost a minimum of $1,800. Buy points that are cheaper per 1,000, if you can find them. But Hawaii should be more expensive because it's Hawaii.

We own at Bali Hai. You can get Wyndham points cheaply, even free, but the maintenance fees go on forever.

I am sure the salesperson told you how cheap it is to use Wyndham points and talked about discounted stays. Those discounts require a huge purchase buying direct. It's not worth it.

So I don’t know how to edit but for clarification… The points we are considering purchasing our for Waikiki beach resort in Hawaii is where it is deeded, the maintenance fees are per month
