I have been waiting for my SDO platinum 2br/lo EOY to record for 63 days (ebay purchase). I finally did an online deed search myself and found out it recorded on 7/8/08 :cheer: . The closing agent still hasn't informed me of this. I printed out the "unofficial deed" from the Maricopa county website. Someone mentioned in a previous thread I could fax it to starwood myself to speed up the process but I don't remember the thread. The closing agent wouldn't act as a "reservation agent" for 90 days post payment. As I have paid the MF for 2008, and am entitled to 2008 use, I would like to hurry things along. Any advice on how to proceed? I would like to deposit and lock off with II and try to trade for a Maui week over halloween.

Congratulations! That info. is in the Owner Resources Sticky at the top of the board.

Save a PDF and email it as an attachment to the title transfer email on the sticky at the top of the board. They usually add it to your name within the week.

The only problem that you could have is if the maintenance fees weren't paid to Starwood on the week. This happens frequently because the seller sometimes takes their own sweet time in getting those fees and the transfer information to the resort.

Done! I sent a bitmap image of the versions available on the maricopa website, but at the top of the page it says "unofficial document".

I hadn't thought about whether the fees had actually been paid to Starwood. I will email the closing agent tomorrow-wish me luck...

You can get an official copy (pdf?) from the county recorder online for a nominal (>$10) fee. That's what I've used to speed along the process on my SDO resale purchases.

When I contacted Starwood about the Cave Creek I had bought resale, I had to fax them an offical copy of the deed, which is downloadable off the county site for $3.

I sent the PDF (unofficial copy) to the email address in the sticky for my WKV (same county), about a month ago, and it worked fine. Have fun using your week!

I downloaded the "official copy" for 3$ and emailed it to SW. How long did it take them to respond to you? I have also emailed the closing agent to see if the MF for 2008 that I paid has been sent to SW but no response as yet.

I was just informed by Starwood that the title transferring ownership to timeshare freedom was incorrect and has to be corrected prior to transfrering ownership to me. UGH!:annoyed: I am thinking of asking the closing agent of refunding my 2008 MF's.

FYI, I emailed Starwood my newly recorded deed for my Falls on Friday and today (Wed) I received an email that I am all set and I am in the system. Very fast turn around! :cheer:

Oh no! Did Starwood tell you what was done incorrectly?

Wow, that was quick! You certainly know how to streamline these things!

So for those of you who instigate a "Do-It-Yourself SVO Transfer," do you pay the $25 transfer fee over the phone? If so, do you then inform the closing company that you've already paid it and get a refund from them? That way, they won't go to do the actual transfer when the paper deed shows up in their offices some weeks down the road...I think?!

With our St John purchase, the closing agent faxed the paperwork over at 9am, and we were in the system and online (MSC) by 10am

Our Kierland unit was also in the Starwood system less then 24 hour after faxing over the paperwork.

I don't believe I paid any transfer fee with my two Falls weeks I recently bought. I'll find the paperwork and find out (need to get that anyway, as I have to sign up for an II account for them...).

We paid over the phone, amex. We contacted Starwood prior to faxing over our paperwork and talked to them directly of what we were doing. We then directed our fax to our contact so it would not just lay around in the office. They immediately took care of our paperwork.

Thanks for the reply. So did the closing company also collect a transfer fee from you, that was then refunded? Trivial, I know...$25, but thought I would ask.

this is off the subject but with your new falls units and the rest of your units will you qualify for 5* if and when they are invited into the SVN?

Nope. I don't have any developer purchased weeks, so I'm riding third class on the SVN train. (And no complaints!)

Oh no! Did Starwood tell you what was done incorrectly?

Yes- the closing agent informed me that the prior owners sent the deed to record themselves, and apparently, did not complete the paperwork for a trust ownership correctly. Therefore this needs to be corrected prior to my transfer. I got a phone message saying the closing agent did this today, and will be submitting the paperwork to correct the prior deed.

The starwood office was amazingly helpful, and responsive!! If I hadn't faxed them my recorded deed I think this process would have been delayed substantially longer. I am still considering asking for a discount on my closing costs...

My Cave Creek deed was incorrect by 1 ( 0 ) being left out of the legal description and when I faxed it to Starwood 10 mins later they called me pointing it out, had to get it fixed before they would change it over. Once I faxed the corrected one I was in their system in 30 mins.
