I have an unenrolled resale week at Aruba Surf club booked for July. It’s not looking good. I think these are my options. Lmk if I missed anything.
1. Deposit the week into II prior to 60 days and have 2 years to use?
2. Call MVC prior to 60 days and move the date out to any available in my season- gold, buying me more time to deposit in II and use my deposited week. I think MVC charges $40 for this which is ridiculous.
3. Waiting to see as it gets closer and depositing before 14 days but then having a flex exchange which can only book within 60 days? How long is that deposit good for? Still 2 years? If I wait though- II may not take an Aruba deposit if Aruba travel still limited. Are they even taking Aruba deposits now?

Any other options?

I think those are your options. Unless another date further out in your gold season won't work for you....it would seem that would be the easiest approach right now. Then you would still have the other options in the future if Aruba still isn't open. I was able to push my June Kauai weeks back to October and Marriott did not charge for the change in reservation.

Similar situation. Deeded week reservation in HH end of May. I called.. can’t move the week out since I’m under 60 days. I can deposit into interval and pay a fee to use. Or wait and see if the resort cancels and then they’ll waive the fee. At this point I may as well wait. Makes no difference when I cancel. And we’re hoping to still go. Time will tell..

What fee will be waived if the resort cancels?

Thank you for your response. I can’t travel later in the year so if I moved it it would just be to buy time to exchange. The 60 day thing is really limiting especially bc we are tied to school vacations only. Hanging on. I also have a trade for HHI in August. Not sure what to do there either but have some time.

don't wait. I did and now I lost my deeded week time for this year because I didn't have an II membership and by the time I finally got one and waited for Marriott to confirm my ownership, it was apparently too late to deposit. Still hoping the insurance will cover the MF since that's all we claimed, but chances are that the 4-6 weeks wait before my claim is processed is also going to be a no-win. The coved-19 amendment to the insurance policy actually came after we cancelled, but we will either end up arguing the case or just losing out all together. A waste of money for the insurance, and a waste of money being forced to join II, which I will not use. I'm glad other people are happy with II but it is not useful to us.

Interval only takes members deposits a minimum of 14 days in advance (Late deposit 59-14 days).
If your week is enrolled in the destination club and you deposit it into II there is no exchange fee if you exchange into another Marriott.

MVC might do a special deposit for you if it gets later than 14 like they are doing now for stays before 5/14 but you might want to mark the date and and log back onto MVC to take a look at your options before that 14 day mark. The special deposit MVC is offering now is not no exchange fee, it’s $99 Fee.

I'd change it to later if you get near 60 days out. They will likely waive the change fee, ask if they don't volunteer. If you don't already have an II accountant that can be problematic so I'd likely make your decision by 65 days out, I'm not sure in July when you're week is. You may be close or at that already. You could also wait and if you can't travel, you could do a late deposit in II though it'll me more restricted.

Thanks Dean. I do already have an II account and my week starts July 5 so once May hits I have to make a decision.

I am not sure why the fee is ridiculous. The fee has been there for years (long before DC). We paid a hefty enrollment fee to not have to pay these nickel and dime fees.

That said, if you know you won't or can't go. Do cancel outside of 60 days so you aren't stuck with more limited options.

My HH week was booked with points. It was a regular weeks reservation. But thank for the 14 day notice. I totally forgot about that! We are still planning on going.. day by day!

I’m in the same situation. They said I could rebook during gold season this year only 2020. I don’t know why I was under the impression I could cancel week and use with Marriott next year 2021.
does Marriott not allow banking weeks at all? I own weeks not points. I have another timeshare that allows me to bank for 2 years (in my home resort, not interval int’l) maybe that’s why the assumption. Or is it that maybe I was already late to bank it?

They've never allowed banking of weeks internal, it's historically been done through II for weeks only.

You can deposit your week into II as long as you are more than 14 days from the the reservation and MVC may be able to help you if you are in a bind from the current situation- have a look at the policy on MVC.
It is good for 2 years and you have priority booking to another Marriott on II. I’ve had many great exchanges on II good luck.

So my check in is May 23rd at the Arub Surf Club. Marriott told me my only option is to deposit my week to interval. But then I can only exchange within 60 days of the check in until May 2022. Or I pay $99 and for exchange within 4 months of check in, but with deadline of Dec 16th, 2021. Any suggestion on whether I should pay $99? Thank you!

Can you travel last minute, within 60 days? We got an AC from cancelling an exchange last minute and I was not happy with it, it could not see any Marriott deposits. Has anyone confirmed that the $99 AC can see other Marriotts? If so, that AC may be the better option.

Thank you! On top of that, my unit is a 3-BR. I probably should lock off then deposit. But then am I supposed to pay 2 x $99?

I agree with dioxide- that is a personal decision- when can you travel? How fast can you go once you book something?

But I’ll also note that as I read the policy for ownership weeks with reservations after 5/14 on MVC with check in 14-59 days away they are telling you to deposit into II, not (yet?) offering the special $99/120 deposit.

Another thing I would consider is are you an enrolled weeks owner?
I am and so for me if I deposit my week into II it would be good for 2 years and there is no exchange fee to trade into another Marriott. But deposit 59-14 before reservation is a late deposit on II so it is limited to exchange 60 days in advance and manual exchange, but also no upsize fees.

You would need to ask MVC if you can lock off and you could also ask more questions about the cert they will give you on II with the $99, 120 day exchange. Good luck.

Is Marriott offering you the $99/1 Year/120 day window deal now? I ask because their cancellation policy states that deal is for those with reservations thru May 14th. Our week starts right after that and we've been waiting to see if they extend the deal out before cancelling. According to the person we spoke with the 2 year/60 day window II exchange fees are $154 Marriott to Marriott or $209 for outside Marriott. Personally we would much prefer the 120 day window option. We own an EOY MOC week (not in points program) and even if other parts of the country open up it does not appear Hawaii is going to be lifting the 14 day quarantine for the week we are booked and we're not about to fly 12 hours to spend a week confined to our room. I feel like Marriott should extend the better offer (IMO) to those with Hawaii weeks until the state gets rid of the mandatory quarantine for visitors.

I think the fee is ridiculous because that’s my opinion. It takes 2 seconds for a rep to change the reservation and if they would let me do it myself online I wouldn’t even need a rep. It’s a money grab just like a lock off fee. Again, just my opinion.

I'm in a similar situation but with less options. I used my Florida club to get into OceanPointe and then rented it on Red Week in March. The renter wants to get out, i'm inside of 60 days and so far, the resort is mostly closed. However, its FL and DeSantis is itching to open up next week. My booking is for June 6th so I'm certain the pool/beach/gym/restaurant will be open, but I get why he's nervous about flying/traveling.

If I let him out of the reservation, then I'm stuck using it right? or I'd have to throw it up on here for cheap and lose over $1000...
