As people are aware, getting through to airline call centers to reschedule flights has been very, very difficult due to staffing issues and the number of flight cancellations that they've had to juggle.
I recently bought a new Google Pixel 6 Pro phone. One of the features they tout is the innovative uses of AI technology to make using the phone more convenient. One feature is that when you are on hold at the number you are calling, you can set your google phone to monitor the phone line and it will ring once a real agent actually comes on line.
I recently had to change a Delta reservation scheduled to depart the day before New Years. Delta's lines were overwhelmed and the recording estimated a 6 hour wait. The kicker with Delta's 1-800 line is that they have no callback option, you are expected to wait on the phone the entire time. So, I push the button on the Google Pixel 6 phone to alert me once an agent picks up. I fell asleep and several hours later, I woke up when my phone alerted me so that I could reschedule the flight to one which my family could actually make. A really great example of a practical new feature that Google has introduced and one that I've used multiple times already. Being put on long hold times is no longer so aggravating as it used to be.
