My FIRST Timeshare!!!

After months of reading about timeshares here on TUG..i finally plunged in...

I purchased my first timeshare (Large 1Bdrm SDO) EOY odd resale via ebay!!! It was done via Donate for a Cause so no closing/transfer costs and no MFs till 2013.

I must say that DFC/Resort Closing has been very fast! Won auction on Jan 25, paid and signed docs on Jan 27 and file was submitted to Starwood for transfer on Jan 31. I called Starwood today and they confirmed they received the deed Feb 7 and total transfer time should be 10 business days!!

Am I able to open an II account at this time or do I need to wait until I receive confirmation that the transfer has been completed?

I know I still have lots of reading to do on the exchange process..but wanted to say thank you to everyone here who has posted such valuable information!!!

Congrats! You won't be able to open an II account until the unit is in your name.

Hi - You have to wait until Starwood records the deed in your name.

In the meantime, see the II FAQ at the top of the forum for lots of info.

I received my confirmation from my new SBP and I called II and opened my account and they said it would take 10 days to confirm (thought that was long)

I read all the info on the II page and Starwood posts and stickys - it is amazing how helpful and how much information and education is there!

I want to "see" what I can see! Hard to wait 10 days!
