So, today I have my official first real "my friend is looking for the 10 days around Xmas and NYE at the beach resort" TS unit call.
The person inquiring lives near the Pompano ocean by the "subject" resort but a different family member (not the traveler) rented from me several years ago ... still had my phone number .. because she loved staying at the resort.
Dang ... I got those exact TEN days & the resort & unit size in my available inventory.
Caller is happy ... one phone call and she has found EXACTLY what her friends wanted. Give her a price ... Prime Season and 2 Guest Certificates. And most likely not replaceable dates at that resort.
Now, those of us who deal with the TS rental public KNOW what happens next. You can bet money and WIN 98% of the time.
"It is THAT expensive!!!! I will have to look elsewhere." The original caller is just beside herself she had taken up my time inquiring for her friend. I know many times ... the friend(s) just wants to sleep in OP's bed while OP sleeps on her sofa for the price of a dinner out.
Any bets whether I get a phone call back after Thanksgiving wanting those dates from the original caller?
A) As she decided to pay for her friend (or relative) my asking price (or minus 10%)
B) Her friend calls me and asks if still available and offers $25-30 per night "to help me out".
C) I rent it to an unrelated party AND either party (OP or her friend) calls to see if I will come down ... AND I get to tell them, RENTED.
ADDED: This thread is NOT a WHINE-FEST ... it is about human nature. It is like taking the kids clothes shopping before the start of the new school term. Like getting the right Christmas present for your "other half". Like 3 months of I can't go; everything is planned; the 5th wheel is not available to go ... can come NOW (I am sure since you asked me 3 months ago, there is still space for ME)
