Hi!

I deposited two Summit Watch lockoffs and received four ACs. When I received these in October 2015, I could see so many great offerings. I was able to see studios and one bedrooms at Marriott and Westin within 60 days. The Marriott properties in Aruba were available May, June, September and October. The Hyatt in Lake Tahoe was available for Memorial Day.I was able to pick up the first two August weeks at Marriott Timber Lodge.

Around the beginning of January it all changed. Marriotts are not available during Flextime. My sister received the same ACs as I did for Summit Watch. Last week she obtained two two bedroom units at the Surf Club. We had the same ACs but the Aruba units could not be pulled with my ACs.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? I have been a Marriott owner since 1998 and have never experienced this. Any advice?

Thank you,
Mabel

Your ACs must be the same type I got for depositing units. The type that you can use for OGS. I used one for Aruba Surf Club in October . The request took few weeks to fill (one bedroom unit). I gave this week to a friend but she had to cancel one day before traveling for a family emergency. Called II and they let me book Marriott Grand Chateau for April for another exchange fee. Used another AC for Cancun (Royal Caribbean). Was a studio AC but ended up getting a 2 bedroom with it for December. Had one more AC left. Put OGS in in June last year for June this year. Was a 2 bedroom AC but I was willing to take one or 2 bedroom in Aruba, either Surf or Ocean Club. After 6 months got a one bedroom at Ocean Club. So these ACs worked great for me. I have 2 more ACs on my account but are restricted to 59 days. They have tons of exclusions. Basically every Marriott. Not sure if I'll use them or not.

Exactly the same experience. What unit does your sister have? I think I have to call Mark Campos to complain about the change in inventory for the older ACs and how the newer ones seem to have more power.

We had always been able to book our AC's in the past...and lost 3 this year. Really disapointed with the inventory and the changes. Since we are now in S Florida the need to travel is not that high but we had always been able to use our bonus units.

It seems II is consistently changing values for our weeks.

Whereas one of my weeks use to see everything 15 days out with an ac certificate, currently it does not. 15 days out it allows all areas but with resorts only in my quality category. It will never allow me to get a Marriott , even a studio, with an ac or my week.

Whereas I wish it was different I can understand II doing quality control and giving preference to members who give them high quality resort weeks. Most times they get it right, sometimes they get it wrong.

Even in lower quality weeks there are some excellent resorts out there. You just have to do your homework.

Sum up the expectations and you have an impossibility. Everyone wants to trade up and nobody wants to trade down. That's before you even get to an AC. You take an AC that is designed to suck up the lowest of the leftovers and if you can fetch a desirable unit, even 14 days out, that is one less "desirable" unit for someone that would want it with a better deposit.

You can still generally get really good up trades but it takes work. And sometimes it takes the right units (decent power, low fees). When a trader unit gets tweaked where exchanging is no longer viable it's time to give it away and acquire another.
