MVCI Asia Pacific Points internal exchange

just curious about the MVCI Asia Pacific points. There is an ad for 33k MVCI points (for $18,500 and annual fee of 1,025) in the Tug marketplace. According to one of the Marriott forum sticky's this collection is : The MVC Destinations program is not (yet?) integrated with the MVCI Asia-Pacific Points program. Marriott hasn't released any related, official information.

However, the ad says:

You can take a week at the Marriot Phuket Beach Club, a few days at a hotel in Bangkok or Tokyo or save up for a long stay in Sydney – the choice is yours.

For the new owner, points can count towards booking one of the six Asia Pacific resorts, 16 club connection destinations, 58 MVCI resorts, 2000 Interval Int Exchange resorts or from the 1000s of Marriott Hotels and affiliates worldwide (or just upgrade)!

any easy clarity on the interoperatability on these sysytems?

The simple answer is that currently there is still no interoperability, although it has been promised for quite some time.
It is not quite that simple though, as the MVC Asia Pacific Club does include inventory and access to Ko Olina Beach Club, Waiohai Beach Club, Grand Chateau...as well as access to various hotels via an arrangement similar to the DC Explorer collection

I will be seeking an update on the AP/DC integration-interoperability at the AGM in Phuket early next month.

Basically that price is way too much. The points would get you a platinum week at PBC but not a week at Xmas or New Year nor a Chinese New Year week. A phase 2 or3 plat season week at PBC resells for around $7k to $8k but can be found for less. So the price is more than double what a week at PBC would cost you on the resale market. Are the additional use options worth all that extra cash? There is no ROFR at PBC.

As Barry says, there is no interoperability betweem AP and DC points at all. You have to use II and also you must have a personal II account and so NO CORPORATE II account. There are one or two attractive usage options through II. You can use 10,000 AP points to get a late deposit week in II. This would be a Marriott week and so is an attractive option if you can travel at short notice.

Using the other options is not as straight forward as you might think. Also the Club Connections options have increased in point cost dramatically in recent years. When I first joined a night at the Marriott in Singapore was 4500 AP points but now it is 8000 AP points. Also availability has become much more difficult to find.

So this is not a great deal. The price should be less than $8000.

Thank-you. Seems like they work as affiliated resorts when available. A nuance in the Marriott system(s). Similarly Diamond has some of those arrangements which pull up on regular searches but they are not part of the collection(s). Are those units available 13 months out? And in non-rainy (sp) prime parts of the year?
