I cannot tell whether they are adding more rooms or just buying out their partner in the existing hotel/lodging property. I don't remember any businesses in the building other than the Marriott operation and first floor bar/restaurant. Might the hotel itself be deeded as a series of "commercial condos"?

Good point. Either way it’s more pulse units.

Marriott Vacations Worldwide prefers to work with development partners who invest the capital to buy and renovate properties, then MVW will acquire individual units gradually in phases as they need inventory to sell (in this case points to sell). In the meantime, they offer their development partner the opportunity to rent units that MVW has yet to acquire on Marriott.com. Most of these deals are actually more complex than this simplistic example assumes, but this transaction is probably just moving some of the hotel rental units into the timeshare pool so MVW can feed them over to the Trust as backing for more points inventory.
