We converted Ko Olina to destination points and bought 1,000 points while there last. We paid $12.50 pp then and now they are up to $14.50 at the minimum purchase of 1,000 points. Their new tactic is to use the threat of 200,000 new members coming into the system (Sheraton, Westin, W and St. Regis). They also discussed the "Select" level now includes Elite Platinum Status for life - without any credit card purchases. If the market had not tanked as it did, we might have been interested in more destination points.

Too bad you didn't buy resale; you would have saved a lot of $$$$$$. Never too late to buy resale if you decide you want more points.

Lucky for you (sort of) the market tanked.

When you say you “converted Ko Olina to destination points”, did you just enrol your weeks in the points programme or are MVC actually offering a permanent conversion option there now?

True, but now his week is enrolled which may be what he wanted. Though, it may have been free enrollment perhaps depending on the week. For future purposes, resale or renting would likely be better.

We had a presentation on Monday. The big things he talked about was
- II was going to get a lot less weeks with Westin and Hyatt joining Marriott ( yeah Right ;) )
- The personal homes that the DC will be renting will only be available for owners of 7000 pts or more so we need to get more pts. ( yeah Right ;) )

Got $50 and 40,000 bonvoy pts

I would encourage you to consider renting additional points when you need them -- you can scale your rentals to be exactly what you need.

Good luck and I hope that helps!

Best,

Greg

We attended a sales presentation at BeachPlace Towers few days ago. What a breath of fresh air! We told the salesman right away that we own plenty of weeks and points and are not interested in buying . We just wanted to learn what's new. Not once he tried to sell us anything but we actually learned more than we have in the past with all the numerous sales presentations we have attended all put together. Let me tell you...he made such an impression that if I wanted to buy more one day I would buy from him. Unfortunately I forgot his name , Michael? from Rochester, NY :)
