Hello noobie here: I own a MVC deeded week along with 2 family members. The member receiving the benefit is Bonvoy lifetime Platnium. I called owner services and confirmed only one of us can receive this benefit.

Confirming that there is no benefit to the lifetime Platnium member receiving this benefit and we should switch to one of us with no status. Is there something I'm missing? I don't want my MIL to lose her status if we switch.

Thanks.

No if she is already lifetime platinum there is no reason to leave her as the one receiving the ownership gold status.

Switch it quickly so that hopefully it will update for 2025. They only update them once per year and if you miss it you will have to wait till 2026 for it to change. (They typically update them in Feb)

We did the same. As soon as I reached lifetime Titanium, we switched the Bonvoy account associated with our MVC ownership to my Wife’s so that she would get the Titanium level benefit.
As mentioned though, they only allow this once per year, in January as I recall, so best done very soon.

No unfortunately not. unless you enrol those weeks which would require a substantial additional purchase from MVC,

We used to have the Bonvoy card back when it was "rewards" and achieved platinum before enrolling our weeks. We're currently gold, but haven't traveled since before Covid. Is the Bonvoy card still an option for upgrading status?

Yes. AMEX Brilliant Marriott Card though expensive gives Platinum status.

****I called and made the switch and was told that switch would process for 2025. However, I was told that switch this could only be done once per account - not once per year, tbh I'm not sure if i misheard.

The one benefit I could think of of not changing who receives the benefit is if my MIL wanted to elect Marriott Points instead of using or banking the week. There is a way around this though (transfer between accounts), it would just take an extra step.

Who gets the Bonvoy status does not alter how you use your ownership, you can still elect for club points and use the to book how you always did. If you mean trade for Bonvoy points, then yes, the Bonvoy points go to the account that related to the primary ownership and as you say, you can transfer between accounts if needed to get the Bonvoy points to where you want.
