Hello,
We are not skiers, but are very interested in still visiting one of these resorts as we have heard that they are still great places to go to during "non-skiing" times. Do any of you have suggestions on which MVC resort may better for us since we are not skiing? Suggestions on near by restaurants, shops, and excursions are greatly appreciated as well.

Thank You...

We went to Vail in early October.

We had a good time. We drove around the area and saw some beautiful scenery.

We did not eat out a whole lot, so I really can't help you there.

I did manage to go golfing twice while I was there. The courses were closing the weekend that we left.

How many of you will be going? I believe there are only 2 MVC resorts in CO, one in Vail and one in Breckenridge. Breck has only studios and 1-bedrooms while Vail has studios, 1br, 2 br and in Douglas bldg, a 1br with loft that is like a 3 br. Both are great locations with tons to do. At Breck you are just a block from downtown, but at Vail you would need to take the free shuttle or drive. Will you have a car? If so, how far would you want to drive for "excursions"? The aspens in early October are usually fantastic, but there could also be snow. If you like wildlife, you will be there during the elk rut, so a trip to Rocky Mtn National Park is a must, but you would need a car. We have been to Breck and Vail, so I can offer many more suggestions if I know more.

There also is a Ritz vacation club in vail

It is hard to get in Vail or Breckinridge through DC points because owners there don't participate in DC to make anything available. Marriot bought those three resorts from someone else and the original owners tend to just stay there. That is why I am going to have to bite the bullet and use more points to get into the Ritz there so we can do fall trip in the rockies.
