Hello everyone,

So we've only been owners for just over a year and have already been on 3 vacations and loved every one. We have 182000 points and fees are low ( $4.19 per thousand ). We would like to purchase another 100000-154000 points, my question is should we just buy another contract for that many points or sell ours and purchase a 300000 + points contract. I know alot of you have multiple contracts but could it get confusing ? Any advantages to have multiple little one's over 1 larger one ? I read recently some will/estate problems, are multiple contracts just a bigger headache later on ? Not that I'm planning on going anywhere soon.

Your thoughts ?

I personally prefer multiple contracts with different use years. That way you can extend your point usage from one year to the next. I have had much success using my points this way. My goal is to use all of my points for Wyndham stays.

Just a thought - you spread out the risk of getting a special assessment by owning at several different resorts rather than only one. If you did get a SA, it would be smaller based on a smaller points contract, than one large one.

On the downside, when you want to divest, you have to have closing on each one rather than one deal.

I prefer different use years. The computer does all sorts of wierd things with the different use year dates that mostly break to my advantage. One thing to consider if the option is available and if you want to, is to consider contacting Wyndham and see if they would do a deal to take the re-sale contracts back in conjunction with a new purchase. Sometimes they do sometimes they do not. If you like the vacations, then VIP status might be worth considerinig if you can get the re-sale contracts swaped in conjunction with the purchase.

Whoooaa !!! Doesn't that go against what everyone here says to be resale only?

Not against what all the knowledgeable people say here.

it may be worth it, it most likely will not be. It will depend on the deal that is discussed, what the op wants and their vacation style/number of expected years of vacationing.

No one answer is for everyone.

Not everyone. Regarding will/estate outyear problems, you may want to talk to an Esate Planner or Attorney and structure the ownership in such a fashion that the timeshares do not go to the Estate.

So? It just tells you that the opinion is not unanimous. The forum is large enough for variety, no?

It is always an option to try and get Wyndham to combine a bunch of resale contracts to one VIP account... but not likely to happen without some fancy fast talking I think.

I like the idea of multiple contracts to spread the risk of increased mfs and special assessments. Also at some point you may want to downsize, but not sell out altogether

I have two contracts and I have not seen a real difference having two. They are billed with the same transaction and they are pooled on the website together. I do like the optionto sell one if we are finding we are not using all the points as others suggested.

I would echo Gordon's thought - there is a way to roll your points using cancel points that costs you nothing - but I think you have to have multiple contracts with different months.

I would also say that if you get the right person on the right day - you can get a good deal which might get you VIP Platinum or Gold (depending on how many resale points you have).

Having unlimited reservations and 50% discounting and the VIP upgrading do allow you to do some things that can save you big - for example the triple book - so with rolling your cancel points and using points across multiple years you can really play the game with points in a very different way.
