multi session DVD burn

I have tried to burn pictures on a dvd and a comment appeared do I want to burn with or with out multi session, Can some one explain what the session means and what is the difference between them.

It is asking whether you want to finalize the disk. If you want to add pictures to this DVD later select the multi session. You will need to finalize the disk sometime in the future so that it can be read by any PC.
