Given the chats recently about Summittwatch platinum going for $5,000 recently, there is an auction on Ebay now with 4 days to go on Mountainside platinum week and bidding is at $5,100
Any bets where it will end up??

I do not follow this property at all so can't say but I am an active Ebay buyer and seller. It takes TWO people to drive a price "high." I have noticed that early bidding does not necessarily drive prices up on items with relatively narrow selling ranges. Thus you could get a lot of activity at the outset or have several bidders setting snipes to go off in the last 10 seconds. In either case things sell for what they are worth today. HOWEVER, the exception is when there is a shill. Sadly, timeshare sales on Ebay have lot of shills. Thus the shill gets into a bidding war with a buyer that doesn't know what an item is really worth and drives the price higher than normal. It's unlikely to get two unsuepecting buyers at the same time in my opinion and thus you see very few true/legit auctions go higher than current value.

Anything less than $10k would be very surprising to me. I'll predict somewhere between $10k and $15k.

Every time I see a thread like this that questions an eBay ad, I can't help but wonder if it's a plant by the eBay seller to generate traffic, a way to get around the no-ads rules on TUG.

I posted one of those posts

Relative to an MOW silver season unit, last month I posted one of those "wonder how high it will go posts." I am neither a shill nor a seller wanting to draw attention to a sale listing. (I do understand and know you did not accuse me of being either.) I posted as I truly was interested in knowing how high the particular unit was going to go. It is interesting, by the way, that there ended up being two MOW silver season units one right after the other on ebay, and they went for within $0.01 of each other ($1025 and $1025.01 were the final winning bids). Seems like the market generally knows what actual value is.

The ski weeks have held up better than many at Marriott but as earlier posts noted they are headed downward fast, as much real estate is. This is not good news for HOA's as I am concerned many homeowners will walk away as the percieved value disappears.
Last time I looked at Park City Platinum week with Marriott (maybe 3-4 years ago) their asking price was $37,900. Now the typical asking price resale is $15,000 with Mountainside maybe $2k more. Just not sure how far down they can go with no more ski timeshares being built by anyone??
No I am not a shill but I own 2 weeks at Summittwatch and have for years

Don't forget resale prices fall (sometimes pretty dramatically) around this time and then prices rebound (not as dramatically as they fall, though) after the new dues have been paid. Works this way with WorldMark resales, at least. The time to buy is in the fall and time to sell is sometime after January. Would immagine it works this way with Marriott, too.

It went for $15,859.99.

And that is just the ebay price. I'm sure there are many sales away from ebay that are much more.

For example I bought 2 GO Gold OFs for $7500 each from ebay 9 months ago. I then sold one for $13500 from RW ad to a broker who had a buyer at $18k. Aftet that 4 sold on ebayfor $11k, and then 3 at about $9k-$9.5k. Recently I had an offer from RW for $15k which I turned down because I'd be only left with one GO which isn't enough for us.

I am trying to sell another different week and trying both Ebay and RW so we'll see

$15,859 is a great price for a Mountainside unit, sets new low "normal" price for Platinum week
