Have you ever traded into either for Christmas or New Years. How do they compare to each other. Is the ski in/out a really big deal? How do SummitWatch people get to lifts?

Thanks,
Suzzanne

Good evening...

Mountainside is about 50 yards from the base lodge and ski school. The bottom of Pay Day run is just outside the door. A great location especially,if you need to get the kids to ski school.

Summit watch has bigger units and is right on main street, for shopping, dining andnite life... Summit watch is directly at the town lift which gives direct access to slopes. You can ski down to main street as well,or download off town lift. The town lift is weather dependent and was closed yesterday due to high winds...

Mountainside has nicer hot tub....

Just left after 5 days at summit. Don't think you can go wrong at either place. If you are experienced skier, town lift shoud be fine. If you are a newbie, then snag mountainside...

Have never requested Christmas or New Year's but we were successful with a week 7 exchange there.

Having only stayed at Summit Watch, I wouldn't say there are a lot of differences in what each place offers, in terms of pools, hot tubs, fitness facilities, but the biggest difference is location. Summit Watch is at the end of historic Main Street, which is the centre of all the action in Park City. Mountainside is at the main base of the mountain, so about a mile away from all the action.

The ski in/ski out aspect is not a big deal for our family as we did not ski each day at Park City Mountain Resort, which is the hill that these resorts are ski in/ski out for. We also enjoyed Deer Valley, the Canyons, Alta and Snowbird.

One thing to note about the ski access is that if one is staying at Summit Watch, you get on the hill via the Town Lift. You cross a pedestrian bridge over the street and it's a small lift in the center of a little plaza right in the middle of town. At the bottom of Mountainside, you're at the base of the mountain, right next to the Payday express lift and all the skier services. If someone in your party was going to take ski lessons or was a beginner skier, you'd be in a better position at the Mountainside. To ski back to Summit Watch at the end of the day, only blue runs will get you there.

You can rent equipment from each location, but for ski lessons you must head over to the mountain base next to Mountainside.

You will need a good trade to get Christmas week (Plat Plus) or a lot of DC points (we own that week) at either (we own at Summittwatch). Just spent week at Mountainside and yes it is on slopes but access carrying skis and walking in boots across hot tub and swimming pool area is iffy, and new GM talking at owners meeting advised they are working on it. Mountainside overall very nice and unusual for location in Western ski area.
Summittwatch trail coming down to hotel not the best unless good snow/grooming that day but if not good we always take lift back down, simple and safe with convenient bridge across street to resort. Very hard to beat Summittwatch much wider variety of walking distance places to eat and shop:whoopie:
