Interesting...not a shortbread cookie anywhere in the list. Those were always what both my mother and my mother-in-law made at Christmas. Some were just plain and some had green or red glazed cherries in the centre! Maybe it's more of a Canadian thing?

Our family was big on butter cookies, but, of course, Italian cookies and pastries and cakes as well. Italians are big on everything when it comes to food no matter what state they live in. Lol!

I love shortbread but have never made it. A friend just posted pics of Cashew Shortbread. I may have to try that one.

Just looked at photo in article and saw my mom's traditional cookie -- thumbprint with jam. But I'm not finding it on the list. Does it go by another name?
