Do you all know about how much has changed in the world of kidney donations in the last 10 years? A lot.

For instance, in the US a living donor used to have to cover all their own expenses and there was no insurance help at all. But now the National Kidney Registry offers a year of life insurance and disability insurance if something happens as a result of your donation surgery.

The same organization also does something called a 'Voucher Program' wherein you can donate your kidney now to help give a loved one a priority spot if/when they need a kidney transplant.

Learn all about it here: https://www.kidneyregistry.org/living_donors.php

Yes, and all donation testing/costs are covered. Plus you can sometimes get financial assistance depending on your recipient's income level. I'm a living non-directed kidney donor!!!

Not to get political but also there's a bill right now that would prevent insurance companies from charging donors extra for having a 'pre-existing condition'.

And in the UK they just recently changed the laws so that everyone is automatically opt in and they have to opt out if they don't want to be an organ donor when they die.

Times are changing!
