Reclusive author of 1961 Pulitzer prize winner, ' To Kill A Mockingbird', Harper Lee, has died at 89. R.I.P.

In a Forbes list of books that influenced people's lives the most, Mockingbird, always ranked near the top. Right near The Bible. I guess I should find time to read it.

I should find time to read it.

I think most of us know the movie, almost too well.
Who can ever forget Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch --
a heroic character with charm, sensitivity and courage.
"Miss Jean Louise? Miss Jean Louise, stand up. Your father's passin'."
He won an Oscar as Best Actor for the role.

Harper Lee was almost a woman ahead of her time...
a product of the deep-south who understood its culture
all too well.

I saw the movie. :D:D:D

It's not the same.

However I will say the movie version of "To Kill a Mockingbird" was one that did justice to the book.

Good one!
In reading Lee's bio, so much of the book is taken from her own life. Dill was her childhood friend, Truman Capote. Her mother's maiden name was Finch. She was a tomboy and got along better with her dad. He was a lawyer.
I could look it up, but I wonder if her parents were alive when the book was published?

Haha despite the lack of information on how to kill mocking birds, it is one of the greatest books I have ever read.

The movie is certainly great as well, but nothing will ever beat your own imagination while reading a wonderful novel.
