We will be taking our first ski trip West next January. Since I am planning to buy resale in ski resort, I would like to tour/visit Mountain Vista and Lakeside Terrace in Avon. Can this be done without spending several hours at the presentation? Is there such thing as "just to look"? From what I read, both resorts are nice and each has it's pluses. Any suggestions? Thanks.

There should be no reason you can't just walk on and look around. Stick your head in a few doors of units that are being cleaned. That's what we do. Act like you belong there and no one will question you. Stay away from the front desk and the sales office.

Check out Falcon Point too

Then waltz right next door and take a look see at Falcon Point. It is not a Sheraton but for my money it provides great "bang for the buck" and is pretty inexpensive on ebay. Funtime

Thanks Funtime,
Falcon Point is also on my list. We are renting at Christies, but two bedroom is what I would like to buy.. all three mentioned resorts have them. So, it is not considered "illegal" just to look, right.... Great to know. Thanks.
Now, Funtime, should we rent a car? We are flying to Eagle and I was hoping for a reasonably prices public transportation, but didn't find anything but a shuttle for $50/pp one way. How do people transport skis? Do rental cars have a ski rack? Should I ask more questions on Western? Thanks.

YM,

Yes, rent a vehicle. I typically get an SUV that has a split fold down seat and put the skis in the back of the truck to get from the airport to hotel. You'll want to take a shuttle or a bus to the slope, because Beaver Creek and Vail are very expensive to park.

If this is your first time skiing out west, you should go slow in buying a timeshare. There are so many great places to ski, and everyone has their favorite because they're all great, you need to ski them before deciding.
