Was told that January 16th is expected to be a crowded day at Disney World given it is Martin Luther King birthday. We are used to going in mid January and having very short lines(except at Soarin)
Any reason to be concerned?

Don't worry, I've been down to WDW for the last 5 MLK weekends and it's not bad. We were at MK this year on MLK day itself and rode Space Mountain 5x. Did this before 2pm.

Now I'm also a regular Thanksgiving week visitor, so my expecatations are different.

We come in Thursday night before the weekend and leave MLK evening.

Compared to what?

If you are used to traveling during slow times, you will be in for a shock.

Before 2 years ago, I had never been to WDW during any time that wasn't the slowest times of the year (September/October, January 2-9th, early May).

We had been to WDW several times in the early part of the month (our daughter's birthday is January 5th) and just happened to pick up MLK day on one of our last trips. We got to the park early and ended up leaving by 11 am - we usually leave between 1 and 3. The park was busy (by comparison) the whole weekend and Monday. Back to what we consider normal starting on Tuesday.
