Hi, We are going to Mizner Resort in Weston in September. Anyone have advice or comments? I have not been here before. Going to visit DS who lives nearby in Davie. But we want to explore while he is working. We got a one bedroom extra vacation from RCI when they had a sale. Is the golfing good in the area?
Everglades nearby? Only reviews are about the lumpy couch, have there been upgrades ? I will post a review when we return. Any good places to eat? Museums ? Thanks in advance for info! I will wear my TUG shirt at check in!
No presentations for me!

I live in Davie. I am not a golfer, but I think I can help with some of your other questions. The Everglades are very close, probably less than a 30 minute drive. Davie is only 10-20 minutes from Fort Lauderdale too, and between there, Weston and Davie, there are tons of very, very good restaurants. If you specify cuisines you like, I could be more specific. Fort Lauderdale and the surrounding area also have multiple museums. You don't mention if there would be children in your "exploring", but if so, there is a particularly good children's museum in Fort Lauderdale. Let me know if you need more specific information and I'll be glad to help.

Guess I ought to check the reviews because when we went it was GREAT!!!! Most people complain since it is not oceanfront...but it is delightfully residential and close to a lot of things, like the Everglades!

Have a good time and your new review will be appreciated.

It has been a couple of years since I stayed at the Resort. My recollection is that I was impressed with the units. The downside as I recall is that I had to drive everywhere.

Thanks Everyone! We have been to Ft Lauderdale, Miami and Hollywood before, but Weston is new to us. We are driving down so not a problem about transportation. Will be DH and I and no kids. We are going to try the water taxi, sounds like a great way to see the area! RonandJoan thanks for the info on the resort itself. This is not a beach trip, so we are happy that you found it to be a pleasant stay. I will write a review when I return.

you will enjoy

We have stayed at Mizner many times at various times of the year via extra vacations, usually 3-4 weeks at a time. We stayed there the max of 8 weeks just before moving to our house in Fla.
The Weston area is beautiful. The only difficulty is finding some of the many restaurants for the first time as they are tucked back in off the roads with no signs.....use gps.
Pembroke Pines, just south on 75, on Pines Blvd exit, has lots of shopping and restaurants too. Sawgrass Mills is just North on 75.
Mizner did upgrade furniture and soft goods about 2-3 years ago while we were there. They were always accommodating and immediatly responded to any problems with the unit. The pool is nice and quiet. There is a Town Center just across the street with restaurants and a Publix. You can bring your shopping cart over to your unit, then take it back or leave it out by the gate. We loved the parking garage since our car was always in the shade and out of any storms that passed through....a big plus. If you park on your floor level you walk directly to your unit from the garage with no elevator needed.
In Sept it should not be busy so you will be able to eat, sight see, and drive around without the "in season" traffic.
Enjoy.....hope this helps !!
