I am brand new to timeshare and exchanges. I submitted a request for an exchange based on seeing a point value next to my unit I deposited with II. I know now that what I was seeing did not mean I had that number of points.
My unit is with Westin in Mexico for 37,000 points a year. I deposited the 2020 year into interval at the end of December. For the exchange, I thought that anything the search results turned up meant I could book it. I booked a week that requires 110,000 points. I put in my credit card information and everything. I also paid $59 for E plus.
So last night I started to realize I made a mistake and this exchange will not go through. I found a getaway for a good price for the same resort and timeframe. So I called II and was assisted by phone. I told the person to cancel the exchange request which he said he did. I then booked the getaway. My card is showing the amount for the exchange and E plus is still pending.
My question is will this exchange request be cancelled out altogether and my money refunded? The guy said he cancelled it but it’s still showing as pending confirmation online. Will my deposit be put back into my account where I can use it to do another exchange? My deposit was initially good until 12/31/2022. I don’t want to lose that time because I screwed up.
