I bought off ebay a Virgin mifi 2200 unit. [For those that don't know what this is, mifi - my wifi - are credit-card size devices that contain a 3g (or 4g) cell data modem, which can broadcast it's internet access to 5 other wifi-equipped devices. This is sort of the next generation from USB-based modems, which could only work on a laptop with a USB port.]
For those that have this unit (and I believe the ones sold by Verizon and Spring are basically identical on the 'wifi' side), I'm curious as to what wifi distance you've been able to get in hotel rooms? When I go to Las Vegas this year, I'm wondering how close my BIL's room would need to be in order for him to share my signal. Obviously the closer the better, but if they can get us 2 rooms away (same side), or 1 room away (opposite sides of hallway), I'm wondering if that would be good enough, or does he really need to be next door.
Thanks.
