Miami car rental question

Hello fello TUGgers. We will be renting a car in Miami for Dec 28th - Jan 4th, to drive to Key West. The prices are terrible at the airport! Does anyone know of any off-site car rental places that are cheaper? We'd need to have a shuttle or something from the airport though. Any ideas or tips?
Is it too early to be looking to book? Does it get cheaper when it gets a little closer?
 
Priceline

We had the same issue last spring break in Miami. We finally rented through Priceline for substantially less than any of the airports or offsite venues.
