Has anyone received the discount? I paid mine by the deadline but never received ay discount.

I had to call directly to the Tax Assessors office about a month before the deadline. It took at least 6 calls to get it done. I'd call and give credit card number, they would say OK. The charge never appeared; I'd call back...same thing. Finally, about a week before the deadline, TWO charges appeared. Then it took me another two weeks to get a credit back for the doubling.

At the end of the ordeal, I did only pay the discounted rate.

Moral of the story: GET ON IT NOW!...:wall:

BTW, I STILL have NEVER received a bill for the 2008 taxes I had to pay myself...I only found out about it through the link in post #1 back then AND again this year. I watch that newspaper every day...

I hate to say it, but this is a good reason to trade into this resort and not own there....

Who needs this tax headache each year! No billing, double billing, etc.

Actually it's not as big a headache as it appears. The taxes for 2007 and 2008 were collected in 2011. Three to four years after they were due. The headache being mentioned is not interest and penalties on the taxpayers part but getting the 5% discount for paying by the date they asked for the tax.

I wish I could pay my property tax and income tax four years late, with no penalty or interest, and then have the "headache" of having to jump through hoops to get a 5% discount.

According to the schedule 2009 and 2010 will be due this year, 2011 and 2012 in 2013, 2013 and 2014 in 2014. After that MVCI will probably itemize the tax on the annual MF bill.

I'm just about to pay my MFC tax bill for 2009. I called the USVI clerk and she sent me a Word doc that allows you to pay by CC. She also stated that to get the 5% discount just subtract 5% from the amount due. I have two units to pay for and one only has an amount in the "due" box the other has an amount in both the "due" and the "Billed" box. The "billed" box amount on the second unit is 5% less already so I won't discount that one.

The deadline for the 5% discount has been extended to March 20, 2012.

What a way to run a railroad!

I have the Word form but I can't squeeze into a .pdf less than 100kb for posting on TUG so if anybody wants it just PM or e-mail me.

We own a platinum week at Frenchmans Cove. We looked on the web site and see that we owe $110 in Property Tax for the 2009 tax year. How do we pay it? We never got a bill, yet it says that we were mailed a bill on Feb 27th. They have us listed with the correct address but no tax bill. I would love to get it paid and get the discount. Any one have a phone number to call?

Didn't get a bill

but I saw the notice and tried to pay by CC but when I called I was told that I couldn't I printed my info from the website, attached check and mailed it in. I sooo look forward to the 2010 bill that will come this fall. the interesting point is that we will pay 2009 and 2010 this year, 2011 and 2012 next year then finally get only one bill a year starting in 13. That's the understanding i got from talking to the Tax guy from the cove. jerry.baxter@mvwc.com
I first got the info from an email from marriottownerservice on 12 March.

BTW we had a great two weeks at the cove from 24 Feb to 10 Mar.

well..

The wife broke her foot playing hid and seek with the grand-kids at home. We were at the cove for the last two weeks she was in the cast. She still spent many hours a day around the pool. She even walked with the crutches an hour a day on the upper road to keep in shape. Can't keep a good woman down. Your numbers make more sense than mine.

Dundee

Were you the guy that broke his foot in the pool?

For the record you pay 2009/2010 in 2012
2011/2012 in 2013
2013/2014 in 2014
2015 you pay that years bill. MVCI will most likely roll it into your MF then.
