How much time does your t/s give you between the day you receive the MF bill and when it's due?

I just received my MF bill from Wyndham for my ownership at Kauai Beach Villas in Hawaii. I knew weeks ago how much the 2016 fees would be, and was told the statements had gone out on November 11th. I received mine on December 4th. It has a due date of December 15th. It took 23 days to get to me, and is due in 11 days? Seems kind of shortsighted.

Is this normal? What is your experience?

I usually receive my two HGVC MF bills in early November with a due date of January 1, plus a grace period of 30 days before any penalties are added. If I really wanted to stretch it out, I could charge it to a credit card at the end of January and pay the CC bill in early March -- all without any penalties.

My Pollard Brook one came in Oct and is due by Jan. 1st.

For my Smuggs weeks - one is due in Feb. and the other in August and we have less than a month or so to pay them.

I always put them on my credit card to earn more cash back and float my payment a bit longer.

The statement date on my Vida m/f notice is 10/14/15, and the due date is 2/28/16, so they give us lots of time. I usually file it away until after the holidays to deal with it along with the Christmas gift charges. :bawl:

Savvy is as savvy does! I think so anyway!

I have quite a few mfs to pay each year in January. Those that don't charge a fee for a credit card get paid by cc. I then look at who has a grace period before penalties kick in.

I always put them on my credit card to earn more cash back and float my payment a bit longer.

Bam! Yes, Ma'am!

I get lots of air rewards for travel by adding my maintenance fees to my credit cards. I save up all year, so that when the credit card payment comes due for the fees, I have it available to payoff the balance!

Mine have been coming between 6 weeks and 3 weeks. I still haven't had a bill from Shell and that first payment will be due on January 1.

I have many maintenance fees. Most are due in January (mostly due on the 1st)

I received my first MF billing in September. I'm still waiting on the last one, which may simply be "MIA" in the mail stream. You said yours took 23 days to arrive.

I just got the mother load from Diamond Resorts yesterday. Holy moly! I just became a Diamond Resorts resort owner in October. I have always handled payment of maintenance fees online for the resorts that were just acquired by Diamond. I believe it's been a few weeks now since the maintenance fees were available for payment online. All are due January 1, 2016. If I hadn't gone online, then it would be less than 30 days.

No biggie for me. I knew they were coming. I knew when they would be due either from past experience or being apprised of due dates by the Sellers when purchased.

I don't think it was short-sighted at all. I don't believe that Wyndham could have anticipated the length of time that it took for you to receive the billing. I think the "beef" lies elsewhere. Why should it take 23 days by mail?

Careful, Dave, if you're mailing your maintenance fee in and the service is the same for getting your payment sent back in; at 23 days you've got a problem. I'm sure that there is an alternative for making payment either online, by phone or both.

Personally, I don't feel that there's a problem with Wyndham giving 30 days notice, which is what it would have been with mailing statements out on Nov. 11. I believe most folks know that a maintenance fee is coming and should have a good idea when it will be due.

I work for the USPS and this length of time in receiving your mail should not be considered normal.

It would be hard to tell where the breakdown happened. Perhaps the bill was dated a certain date but it never made it out of Wyndham's mail room for 20 days? A date on the bill doesn't necessarily mean it was actually printed that day either. I guess one could check the post mark, if there was one, to see if the problem was with the USPS.

I suspect that this is statistically by far the most commonly adopted practice, at least for non "chain" timeshare operations within the U.S.
This has been the practice in place at about a dozen places where we've owned intervals over the years, previously and / or currently.

However, at one place in Maine where we own a week (all weeks there are fixed weeks, with no "floating" ownerships), mf bills go out throughout the year, with owners receiving their particular bill(s) about 60 days before their usage date(s), due in full either before or at actual check-in.

Dave, I still have't received my KBV bills, so you have a longer due date than I do. :)

That is exactly my greater point. It isn't about the money (that's been put aside for some time) it's the time frame. If I was on vacation when this bill came in, I'd have had even less time to pay the fees. it almost seems like they're wanting me to be late, so they can assess me a late fee.

Yes, there is an online option to pay by credit card. The link to it is listed on the paper bill - which you haven't received yet. :annoyed:

Seems kind of like the old joke where a Mother wrote to her son, who was away in college. He'd written to her that he didn't get her a birthday gift because he didn't have any money. When she wrote back, she said, "That's okay. I was going to send you $20, but I've already sealed the envelope." LOL! :hysterical:

Update!

It gets even more interesting...

It took them 23 days to get the bill to me, but after I mailed in my check to pay the fee, they had it in the bank in THREE DAYS.

I still think it's slippery of them.
