Couple of times. “River” & waterfalls are better. The pools are tad overrated as they are artificially pump filled. Top ones are warmer as water trickles down. Area predominantly caters to local tourism and weekends are packed. If you do a tour, it’s going to be a 4 hr drive each side and 4-5 hrs at the Grutas from Mexico City. Decent food options and a hotel on site that can be rented for the day. Most locals tend to camp/tent by the river & BBQ
We tend to spend months down south in Airbnbs and take our van. I prefer to drive there the night before, camp out for the night in the van and spend the day mid week.
