The purpose of this thread is to honor those in uniform have gone before us as patriots and warriors for America -- who went so far as to pay the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and our benefit. In response, it is our duty to honor those heroes by striving to live a life worthy of such sacrifice. This is the essence of the American DNA.

It was called. "Decoration Day' until ~WWII when the tradition of placing flowers on the graves of all our ancestors became more of a quasi military holiday to honor fallen soldiers. Either name is perfectly fine- especially for those being honored.

We will be taking part in Steve Hartman's (CBS NEWS) 'Taps Across America' shortly. I asked DW Paula (Principal Horn of the local Symphony) if she could play 'Taps'. She said, " Of course! ", so I'll put on my VFW cap and we will stand by the arterial street by our house, and she'll play the 26 notes and 59 seconds of 'Taps' for the passing traffic at 3pm.

Blessed Memorial Day to you and yours. Freedom Isn't Free!
