Memorable Special Occasion Dining in Wailea?

I know this subject has been rehashed several times on the forum BUT I thought I'd get some updated opinions:

We are going to be in Wailea to celebrate our 50th and want a special dining experience but not one that's so expensive it offends my principles!

We have eaten at Roys and Spago in other resorts and like them. This is the type of fine dining we are looking for - a special setting, great food, relaxing but not too fancy and memorable.

Suggestions & Opinions??

(Thanks in advance!!)

I haven't eaten here since it was closed down due to a movie filming when we were there, but Bev Gannon's is supposed to be quite good.

Gannons at the Gold course course has beautiful views and great food. Merriman's has a new place in Wailea, Monkey Pod, very good food mod price $25 to 40 for entrees. . It's up the hill but you do have some view of the ocean for a sunset. Music/entertainment starts at 7 pm.
Fo course you have the $$$$ places at the resorts.

All the restaurants at the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons hotels are excellent...and have beautiful settings.

On our visit to Maui in January we ate at Bev Gannon's on the golf course for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Several times during our two weeks

Beautiful views across the golf course greens to the Pacific with a spouting whale every so often.

Fine dining every time.

5* in my book.

Darn--I'm hungry now.

We'll try it on our next visit there in March 2012. That is assuming they're not filming another movie that will have it closed down. ;)

Congratulating you!

If "our 50th" means 50th Anniversary then Congratulations to you both! Hope you have a wonderful evening; that is really something to celebrate.

Congratulations on your 50th:

To make it an even more special trip consider reaffirming your wedding vows in a Hawaiian Church.

I nearly lost my wife 12 years ago to a severe stroke. Thanks to the good Lord and many dedicated Drs, nurses, and therapists she is still around and we're going to Kauai in December.

Our ceremony was at Waioli Hui'ia Church in Hanalei on Kauai. The reaffirmation vows ceremony really was even more memorable than our wedding ceremony and two Hawaiian friends sang the Hawaiian Wedding Song more beautifully than we've ever heard it.

You can get white wedding dresses and white pants and shirts from Hilo Hatti's.

It's not in Wailea, but 20 minute drive from there---Mama's Fish House would be a great place for your special celebration. We were in Hawaii for 3 weeks this summer and had many great meals, including the Grand Wailea, but the best food we had was at Mama's. We were lucky to get a table at the front of the restaurant so the view was beautiful.

This is what I recommended to my Sis & BIL for their 25th, and they made reservations ahead of time, told them it was a special occasion, and they got a great view at the front and great service. Still can be pricey, but, heck, its a very special event! Congrats!

Thanks for the responses. I've heard about Mama's Fish House many times before so we may try it. We may do more than one "special" dinner after reading these posts.

To clarify - our "50th" is our 50th birthday. We were born on the same day but in different hospitals and I am several hours older than my wife. We have been married for 30 years so we have a way to go until the 50th anniversary. We meet on graduation night from the same high school that we both attended and have been together ever since.

Still a very special occasion any way you celebrate it!!
