Much to my surprise, I was able to use the Membership Magic Beyond One Time Use Bonus today. We had a one day reservation using VGC points at the front of an upcoming WDW stay about six months from now and I made a replacement reservation using the OTU + BLT points.

What I hadn't realized is that the OTU points aren't phantom points. I had to wait on the phone for a bit while the CSR had her supervisor get her 24 actual DVC points to use for the reservation (12 AKV + 12 Poly as it happened). Learn something new every day...

Yes, OTUP are real points from Disney’s stash, that they transfer to you. BTW, AKV and Poly will both be listed as “your” home resorts on your dashboard until the end of the UY the reservation is in. I don’t think you can use them at 11 months at those resorts, though. OTUP and transferred-in points just recently began showing on owners’ dashboards.

I think that because you can only purchase OTUP at seven months or less, the transferred points would never have a 11 month booking window.

They do...and the website is willing to let me choose a reservation at those resorts at 11 months. If I modify my existing reservation to a AKV resort view studio in August (which is 10 points) it seems to let me do so. But I'm unwilling to push too far into the modify reservation process for fear of messing with the reservation I need.

Yes, I wouldn’t try to use OTUP at 11 months unless I truly wanted that reservation! I definitely wouldn’t jeopardize the reservation I bought them for.

That is very interesting.

No, the timing could theoretically work. (You use OTUP points for a booking at the very beginning of the use year, which is 7 months from today’s, date, then you cancel, you’d have till the end of that use year to use the OTUP, which could be beyond 7 months from today). That said, I’m fairly sure they have an extra restriction that prevents you from using them beyond the 7 month mark.

I *think* if you tried to push it all the way to completion you’d get an error.
