My wife and I have a reservation here for a week starting this Sunday. Our flight in and out or on Saturday. We have been unable to change our reservation from Sun-Sun to Sat-Sat (although they take sat-sat reservations), and they have availability this Sat. They want to charge us $375 for Sat. night.

1- do you think if we volunteer to go to a timeshare presentation, they might change our reservation?

2- if not, can you recommend other hotels in PV that we might be able to make a last minute reservation for 1 night?

Thanks

I just checked Alaska Air and Hotel.com. They both list the Buenaventura (which the sites say is 5 blocks from the ocean) for $117; Hotel Hacienda for $228.60; and Melia all-inclusive for $275. Hotwire.com lists a two-and-a-half star for $76; a three-star for $126.; and a three-star all-inclusive for $184. I've had good luck in the U.S. using Hotwire, but you never know the hotel until you actually confirm the reservation.

I read of a Tugger paying under $75 on Priceline and getting the Westin located right next door to MP. You can select the star level which allows you to pick a top level resort and even the marina area (I think?).

To answer your question, MP will do just about anything to get you to attend a sales presentation, and will likely give you more that $350 worth. BUT, do you really want to attend the sales presentation ? what is your time worth ?

Extra Nights in PV

Due to the use of FF miles on AA, my wife and I needed two extra nights in either PV or Nuevo Vallarta. I have reservations at the Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallarta. It is a Sat to Sat.

So, I used Hotwire and got the Royal DeCameron in Nuevo Vallarta all inclusive for a Thursday and Friday night for $85.00 for the room per night. I am very pleased with this price and resort.

If you are familiar with Nuevo Vallarta, as I am, and the listing on Hotwire stated it is a (R) Resort and (B) on the beach, then you can pretty well know it is will be one of the better places on the beach in Nuevo Vallarta. I do know from phone discussions with Hotwire before booking that they use the Allegro Resort a lot. But for $85 per night with all inclusive, I am very pleased.

Hotwire might be a bit more difficult for PV, as there are so many resorts, hotels listed that to narrow it down would be hard to do. One bit of advice is to download SideStep. It runs a search in conjunctions with your search and sometimes you can narrow the choices down due to the same description or pricing.

BTW. I also rented a car thru Hotwire for PV. I had done a search for a car but did not complete the deal as I thought I could get a better price. A couple of weeks later Hotwire sent me an email stating I had done a search for a rental car in PV and that they had just listed a better price. I checked, got AVIS for $138 for the week. A good deal. Hotwire only deals with Avis, Hertz, or Budget on their cars, so you kinda know who you will be dealing with there.

Hope this helps.
