Mayan Palace - Playa del Carmen

My wife and I took some friends of ours to the Mayan Palace in Playa del Carmen and we (both couples) had to sign the usual blank charge slips upon arrival. I assured my friend that this was standard procedure and that there was nothing to worry about. Two weeks after our return home they received their monthly credit card statement with a charge of 25,000 pesos ($1900).
I have been calling customer service and e-mailing with little results.

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know of a Mexican government agency that would help? My emails have been directed to Grupo Mayan headquarters in Houston. Does anyone know the email address for Playa del Carmen?

Thanks, Ken

No reason to call Grupo Mayan. They should just dispute it with their credit card company. I'm assuming they still have a copy of their final bill as proof of their charges?

I just left riviera maya. The only charge i got hit with was my final checkout charges. And when i checked in they only did a temp check of 6000 pesos which i went over and they actually left me something in my room when that happened.

I returned home yesterday and today I found a similar charge on my Mastercard. Mastercard told me to wait a few days to see if they remove it. If not I plan to call M.P. and request it. I have been going to M.P. since 2003 and never had this occur before,

Hi Cathy,
I've called MP three or four times. They've asked me to email them with the particulars which I did (three times) and their response is that they're not receiving my emails. I'll bet if I emailed them requesting to purchase another week, they'd receive it.

I'm curious to know if this problem was ever satisfactorily resolved.
