We just booked a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom for this resort for Christmas week 2009. My family of 4 and my brothers family of 3 will be vacationing together (first time for christmas together in 15 years!). Anyway, I heard there is construction going on....I'm wondering if anyone knows what the status of the construction will be in December?

There is always construction going on at the Grupo Mayan resorts. They are building the Luxxe buildings to the side of the MP buildings right now. They are also planning to tear down some of the MP buildings - the ones closest to the pool - sometime this year. Look at the bright side - 2 years ago when our family went to Acapulco for Thanksgiving, they had just torn down all the 2-bedroom MP units and all the folks who had reservations were automatically booked into the Grand! It was a win-win for us. We had our regular MP booked for our first week and Grand Mayans booked for Thanksgiving week. We got to stay in the Grand the entire time.

It doesnt look like anyone is working hard at the Lux. The steel frame is erected but there are no cranes on site. No construction noise this week.
