May have to cancel my II exchange last minute...any thoughts?

I probably should post this on the Exchange Board but I post so often here I figured what the heck.

Due to a family emergency we may have to cancel our trip to Lake Tahoe and Timber Lodge on 1/17. Obviously I am going to call II but I am sitting here in a meeting and wanted to get some feedback here.

Do I have any recourse to have the week credited back to me or at this point am I SOL??

I had to cancel due to a family members health reasons. I have a year to use it but since it was so close to the time of our departure, I can only book thirty days in advance. That part sucks but hopefully we'll be able to find what we want when the time comes.

Unfortunately canceling within 7 days of checkin doesnt get you anything. You could call and ask ,it cant hurt. In the future, the II Travel Insurance is a very good deal for the price.

Yeah just found that out....$64 for the insurance is not a bad deal. Well they told me that they give me 30 days to reschedule and if there is a week available they will switch the exchange no problem. Other than that I am forced to lose the week.

I guess I could offer the week to another TUG member/friend/family so it will not go to waste.

Keeping my fingers crossed we do not have to cancel!

Glad it worked out, esp. since it means the emergency situation resolved.

The Marriott travel insurance, btw, is a really nice option and quite cheap, esp. for multiple week owners. For $105 (it says $102 but there is a $3 charge added on) it covers up to 31 days of travel, including all Marriott-related travel via II (so it covers Marriott week exchanges) and covers not only owners but all traveling companions as long as they are listed either on your reservation or added to the policy (and add-ons can be made any time during the year). The year begins on your first day of travel; it is not the calendar year.

Unfortunately, stuff happens....

Where can I get more informtion on this Marriott insurance? It sound perfect for my needs.
