i bought a marriott desert springs Phase #2. It closed about 3 weeks ago
I was told a few minutes ago, it would not be recognized by marriott vacation club till jan 31,2009

I had the previous owner
book april 17,2009-april 24,2009
as a part of the contract agreement, when i made the purchase in late
september,2008

if you were with me
would you keep the aprli 17,2009-April 24,2009 reservation
and
lock it off on jan 31,2009 and bank it immediately with interval
or
would you be concerned
is so close to april 17,2009 it has low interval trading power
on Jan 31,2009

if this is a concern
should i book
any week avaialbe
even a very low demand week, like September,2009
on Jan 31,2009
then lock that off and
then bank that with interval on jan 31,2009

September,2009
much lower deman
than
april 17-24,2009
but
also more time in advance to book with interval
more trade power

here is my main questin, sorry if I sound confused
which is more important

Bank as far in advance as possible
your marriott week with interval
or
have the best Marriott week
high demand
to bank with interval
even if that week is banked only 78 days out/circumstnace out of your control

It may be longer than Jan 31, 2009. The general coconscious is that for the first year of ownership after a resale purchase is that you generally loose the ability to reserve a spectacular week that will garner tones of trade power. This is more true if you are recognizes by Marriott in the same year as first use. I will let others answer your question more specifically.

There's no perfect answer to your question. Only II knows how much each of those factors (reserving a strong week or depositing far in advance) carries more weight in those two specific situations (the dates you mention and the relative strength of those different weeks you mention).

If it were me, I would either book a 2009 week that I could use or (for an II deposit) I would flip a coin as to your two options and go in that direction.
