I have done quite a bit of trading into Interval Exchange, always with the hotel efficiency side of my 2 bedroom lockout at Ko Olina.

Something that I have noticed lately is that the units that come up available using my hotel efficiency unit are exactly the same as the units that come up available when I put in my 1 bedroom, every time.

Basically, it seems like Interval will take the best unit you have to give but will not give you much if anything better in exchange for giving up a larger unit. What are your experiences in trading? Do you see any appreciable difference in availability based on the size of unit traded?

The stronger trading power of a 1BR over a Studio is well documented although I have not done my own experiments. You could probably call II and ask them directly if the larger units actually pull better exchanges. I suspect they do.

The real advantage for us has always been getting an AC for a 1BR deposit vs. no AC for the studio side. In my couple of years of ownership I have locked off and deposited the 1BR for the AC each year.

The units you see on II's website are NOT high demand weeks and are essentially left over weeks that no one had a trade request for. The higher demanded 2BR weeks will NOT be had with your studio.

Correct me if I am wrong but during Flexchange won't a Studio pull the same trade as a 1BR or 2BR?

I currently own 2 weeks at Summit Watch and always lock-off then deposit with II. I can see more with the 1 bedroom units than with the studio. In fact just last night I noticed that my studio wasn't seeing many Marriotts past the Flexchange period. My 1 bedroom unit saw weeks in Hawaii, Newport Coast and others well into spring, past the Flexchange period.
