I am exchanging into the Maui Ocean Club next month and just got my email for vacation preferences. I am a Marriott owner and from the room type it is Ocean View. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of room locations to ask for.
Thanks

Also if anyone is at Kauai Beach Club Aug 7-14 or Maui starting on Aug 14 let me know and maybe we can get together.

How many choices do they give you? If one only, I would ask for a higher floor and you should be OK. We were all the way in the back of the building in the Molokai wing and still had a nice ocean view.

If you have more than one choice, I would ask for higher floor and as close to the ocean front as they are able to give you. It depends also if it is a 1 or 2 BR condo. I have seen a chart of where the condos are located in the MMO but I don't have one myself. Someone may post it for you in this link.

Enjoy your vacation. :D

New towers or original section? In either event, I agree with Emmy that by far the most important request would be as high a floor as possible.

The high floor is a given, IMO, but I'd personally request for a room in the outer Molokai wing facing Napili Tower.

Edit: Here's a map of the room locations: http://tinypic.com/r/2w3yrg4/8

That's our preference as well.

Here's a room chart:

And here's a typical view from that side, 7014, 8014 etc, (Napili Tower to the right) - informally called "Sunset View" there:

Have a great trip:)

Thanks everyone for their suggestions. We will see what I get.

I agree with High Floor, Molokai Tower preferred as the room recommendation. When we have been in similar situation (trading in), the room assignments coordinator tells us that Molokai Tower is typically where they put the owners, and that traders most frequently get Lanai Tower.

Either way, you will have a great time! Enjoy it and let us know how it goes.

Best,

Greg

A room with a view...

For a contrarian view, I can recommend rooms around 5102 in the Lana'i building. This gives you a nice view of the ocean and sunset, but also a view of the pools, which is particularly good at night, really something. Probably under appreciated. We get this room when our daughter trades her 1 bdrm OV for our 2 bdrm OF. Yes, she chose the right parents...

I'm with Gary, we request Lanai 3105 with our 1bov. Great view, easy access to the stairs from the pool area, close to the larger Lahaina Towers parking deck to name a few things I like about that location.

The problem I've run into with the Molokai tower on the Napili side is the dreaded parking lot view.

Just to let everyone know I had a 1 bedroom Ocean View for my reservation and following what people said I asked for a high floor in the Molokai Tower. I am a Marriott owner, but this was an II exchange.

I am in room 5019 which is the second room from the back of the Molokai Tower facing the Napili Villas. If I look straight out my windows I am looking into the Napili Villas, but from the balcony there is a pretty nice ocean view.

I have been here a few times before, but always in the other tower. I was wondering if all rooms are the same as this feels a little bigger than I remember.

So far staff has been very nice. It is my birthday at the end of my stay and there was a box of chocolate mac nuts in my room along with a towel decoration as a cake and I was also given a coupon for 2 free drinks at the bar.

I don't know if people know, but there is now a communal kitchen downstairs on the lobby level, with pots and pans in your unit.

Went to Star Noodle tonight for dinner. Did take out since a long wait, even at 8:00 PM, but food was delicious. Portions large with very reasonable prices.
