We traded our Hyatt and got a one bedroom at MMO for the 1st week of January. We have been assigned room OOBOV. Does anyone know what the OOB part means? I assume OV means ocean view. I am a little nervous about the bad reviews on trip advisor about the condition of the rooms but I read that they are updating the rooms and the renovations should be finished by end of December. Has anyone been there recently?

Thanks for your help!

Oobov

OBOV is a one-bedroom ocean view villa at Marriott's Maui Ocean Club in the original buildings. I am not familiar with the other "O" at the beginning of your code. Maybe someone else can tell you what that means.

I am fairly certain you have not been "assigned" a villa yet. In most Marriotts, villa assignment doesn't occur until 1-3 weeks before you are due to check in. The OBOV just refers to the unit deposited into II that enabled you to make an exchange. With Marriott exchanges, there is no guarantee you will actually occupy a villa with the same view as the deposited villa (here, I believe it is Ocean View) when you get there...you might, but you might not.

Thank you so much for the replies and for the link to that thread with the pictures. I did not come across it in my search and it was very helpful.

I guess I will just hope that an ocean view room is in the cards for us. The views looked incredible...

In Maui they make the room assignments about a week in advance. They are also very good about giving the view on the confirmation. I can't say there has never been an exception, but it seems pretty reliable based on what I have seen and heard, as well as what they tell people in their weekly owner update meetings.

Just came back from MOC.

We traded our Waiohai 2 br garden view and got a 2 br ocean view in the original buildings. Since it was just two of us, we didn't mind swapping a full kitchen, garden view for a mini-kitchen ocean view.

We had a fantastic view and it matched the view category in the II trade.
