Rented our 2 Bedroom Maui Ocean Front Villa (original building) via Marriott around 3-4 years ago for close to $5,000 (if I remember correctly). Just submitted a request to MVCI for their current offer. How big an offer should I expect? Anyone have any recent experience?

The most recent reports on TUG about Marriott's Rental Program are not good - the amounts offered by Marriott are severely depressed compared to what used to be normal. Good luck, but don't expect much.

I agree with Sue's comments.

I think you are far better off renting this on your own. Don't let Marriott eat into your pocket at all.

Please do it on Redweek and save yourself a ton of money. As long as you don't reserve a fall week you will rent it easily for about $3200+, without Marriott skimming or reporting to the IRS.

I think the 5000 days are gone. You should spend some time looking at the Redweek ads to see what weeks have lots of listings, and which have lots of already rented and what the asking price was. There seem like a ton of 4th of July and end of March weeks available, maybe those will rent closer to the date, or maybe it can be hard to unload weeks even though those are popular travel times.

I've been looking for an OF rental and been having a hard time finding one. Our break was always at the end of March and I always found something, and a good deal at that. We since moved and now our break is near the beginning of March and there are much fewer options.

Drum roll...

or should I say dumb roll.

The offer was $2,010 for the Maui 2BD OF. Needless to say I rejected the offer. Thanks for everyone's input.

Forgot to add this was for the year 2013

So have you secured your 2013 week yet? I shouldn't tell you this because you become my competiton but if not secure a Saturday in late January or any week in Feb and list it on Redweek ASAP. It will rent very easily.

I'm surprised it's that high. From Marriott, this is about as good as it gets.
Redweek will get you $1000+ more money.

Thanks for your tip Joe, 2013 is not booked yet. We were just interested in what Marriott was offering more as a comparison to previous years. We may just bank the week and try to use it in 2014 for two weeks in a row with family and/or friends. This year we split the 2BR for two weeks in a row but there is only two of us going.

We originally purchased a 1 bedroom but I think thanks to one of your posts (long ago) we upgraded to a 2 bedroom, which has really worked out well. So double thanks.
