My favorite driving guide for Maui & Molokai is Driving and Discovering Maui and Molokai by Richard Sulliven. It is $19 on amazon.com, but right now it's $10 on the author's webpage. The author is a photographer so in addition to great touring info., the photos are coffeetable book quality and it is an over-sized book.

Thanks for the information. I just ordered one for our trip next year. Only 258 more days to go, but who's counting? :)

I Bought One

I can't believe I bought another book on Hawaii. I have many. But I can't get too much of a good thing. I'm always looking to learn more about Maui.

A tidbit on Molokai for those of you who are thinking of going: We hiked down and back up the mule trail to the site of the lepar colony. DON'T DO THIS UNLESS YOU ARE REALLY IN GOOD SHAPE! It was a bit much for us and it started raining once we got down to the bottom. But it was fun and very scenic - a bit of an adventure. The mules passed us on the way down. We kinda of felt sorry for them because some of the riders were rather big for the animals to carry down that steep decline.

Molokai was not to our liking. We spent a week there which was way too long. It is best for a day trip.

Anyway, thanks for the info on the book.

Me Too!

I just ordered the book and look forward to using it for our upcoming trip to Maui in May 2009. We've never been there and are anxious to see and do it all!

We got confirmation of our book order today, with a note that they have had an upswing in their orders this weekend. So it seems like several have taken advantage of this offer.

Mahalo Denise!
