I noticed Massenutten used to be listed as an affiliate on Vacation Villages Web Site and as of last week or two is no longer listed. Have they dropped the affiliation? TIA.

That is certainly news and interesting. It will be a big loss to me as as someone with Massanutten and VV ownerships if I am no longer to make use of the internal (current $159) internal exchange fee in RCI to trade within both Massanutten and VV.

I wonder if this has anything to do with those of us having VV/Massanutten certificates disappearing from our RCI Points accounts?

As a new Massenutten owner I had been looking forward to trading into VV. Seems strange we all wouldn’t be informed first though

Mine are still there…and one is the “Fall for Massanutten”

You have a “fall for Massanutten” cert in an RCI “Points” account?

I have one in my weeks account.

It is on the “points” side where there are reports of certificates disappearing.

In a weeks account for me but that doesn’t change it missing off the affiliated resorts list…

My point might not have been clear and for that i apologize. The point I was trying to get across is that I own 2 units with VV- neither are Massanutten, yet this year’s certificates specifically mention Massanutten ( boy spell check on this old iPad doesn’t like it ) - I would think that if the affiliation has been dropped it happened quite recently.

I promise to try and consume more caffeine before posting lol

Or maybe a bunch of people got the free “fall for Massanutten” cert and it had nothing to do with VV ownership?

I had previously thought they only went to Massanutten owners, but I don’t guess that is the case.

They have not severed the VV affiliation agreement on RCI yet. I still get the discounted exchange fees if trying to book something.

I'm at Massanutten, and it seems big enough to kind of run their own thing if they wanted to. IDK what the VV association is, but maybe they're not using them for management at all anymore?

I posted this in a facebook group as well and one of them members called Vacation Village and Massenutten and it appears Massenutten decided not to renew with Vacation Village a couple of weeks ago. It will be interesting to see what changes this brings

Thanks for the update. I can’t think of any way it will impact me other than losing the $159 (versus $299) exchange fee to get in to Massanutten. That will be missed when it goes away.

I was looking forward to the $159 exchange fees. I was planning to exchange in vacation village a lot over next 8 years and then just got to Massenutten. I just deposited with plans to change more last minute into VV Williamsburg. I will have to rethink that.

How much TPU does it typically require to book?

It depends on what and when you book. I have been at anywhere between 1 and about 12 TPUs.

Here is an exchange I made to go skiing there last year on the week of MLK Day. It was 3 TPU.

Yeah, it's a fantastic deal if it's within driving range. For a prime season 2-bed when deposited, one can get 25-30 TPU, and it could trade into 10 weeks with $159 each. BTW, the certificates you get, does it require the regular $299 to trade into or the lower exchange fee?

Yeah, being local, < 3 hours drive, and as much inventory as they have — Massanutten can be a great value.

The annual VV/Massanutten certs are $299. There was a “more Massanutten” promo back in the summer that was $159. But the current “fall for Massanutten” promo is $299.

If the internal exchange rate goes away, I am more likely to use certs and RCI “Last Call” than to do exchanges. If many people are like me, that will see another round of devaluation in trading power.

I own at Massanutten (mostly RCI Points) but most of my staying there is trading in using Vacation Village TPUs and the $159 exchange fee.

The conversation over on Facebook, where someone has been talking to the resort and/or their RCI agent, indicates the $159 internal exchange fee is sticking around. Time will tell.
