I prepaid my Summit even unit to make a reservation and to qualify for the trade boost today. Apparently you can no longer select a unit at time of reservation and will be assigned one at check in. One of the advantages of being an owner and paying early was being able to request a specific unit because some views/locations are more convenient than others. I am still able to request a no step unit but one of the "selling" points I could make with renting my unit was that specific unit choice rather than the luck of the draw when checking in. Now my owner unit really is on par with an RCI exchange/rental. Another disappointment.

I do not own there, but that is disappointing for those that do. I was there last summer and we rode bikes along the top few rows of units. I met a nice gentleman at the very top end unit and talked to him for a while. I told him he had a great view, and he said he paid early to reserve it and his family loved staying up there. Stairs do not bother me yet, but when we trade in I always request the highest up unit we can get with a good view. There was a double incentive to do this when the refurbishment started at the top and worked its way down.

I read in the most recent Mountainside Villas newsletter in their Great Eastern update that the refurbishment of Summit and Woodstone are now complete. I did not realize Woodstone was moving that quickly. I do not have a good reason to own Mountainside Villas (I don't own it), but I really like their HOA and their newsletter. Kind of an independent body and independent voice that cares about owners coming out of Massanutten (and I do not mean that as a criticism of the developer-controlled sections but the Mountainside HOA makes it easier to trust AND VERIFY what you hear from Great Eastern).
