I lucked up and was able to get a check-in for this Friday 2/12 at Shenandoah Villas 2 bedroom sleeps 6. This was certainly not my first choice but I am just happy to get any unit for Presidents week on short notice. Can anyone offer any feedback as to the type of unit I am most likely receive? I do see on the Massanutten website that Friday check ins are pedestal houses and include units 1-55 and 67-77 if that helps any. I have seen some mixed reviews and if possible would like to call and perhaps make a unit request based on the feedback I receive here.

Thanks

My first stay at Massanutten was in Shenandoah villas. There are two reasons I won't stay in that type of unit again. I travel with my grandmother and she can't do stairs. Most (but not all) have 20+ stairs to get to the unit. Once you get in one bedroom is upstairs and the other is downstairs. Living room, kitchen and dining room on the floor you come in on.

The other problem was the heat distribution. If you had the middle floor at a comfortable temp one bedroom has hot and the other was very cold. The unit itself looked very nice and cozy. Not luxury but what you would think of when you said a mountain cabin. If you have ever stayed in the Mountainside villas, it had similar decor. There was a 1 br lock off portion and we didn't hear any noise from those people.

This was 10 years ago and I was 7 months pregnant traveling with a 3 year old and an 86 year old. I was dragging suitcases for all of us up 50+ stairs. My husband joined us later in the week and took care of the return car packing, but still. If steps are a problem, I am sure that aspect of these units haven't changed. They may do better with regulating temps. We had a nice view and it was very spacious.

I used to own Shenandoah, (unit 72)
Actually sold it mostly dues to stairs.
(Due to handicapped in law that travels with us, was not a problem for wife and myself)
The units are mostly on a slight hill and you may have 30+ stairs just to get up to the unit.

The unit itself was not bad, a wee bit on the smaller side (sq ft wise)

As for calling - I'd suggest calling Tomorrow (Wed) and asking them to assign you one with the least stairs.

If not been there b4 - I suggest "Beer Lovers Dinner" and when reserve it ask to sit at "Paul's" table.

Thank you all for your feedback. Stairs arent a huge issue, I'm pretty healthy and am taking my 2 teenage sons (16 and 18) who are the designated movers.
