I am thinking of going to Massanutten during Xmas week next year. Was wondering if anyone has been there at this time of year before and what were your experiences like? Is it insanely crowded?

I was there over New Year's once. We didn't ski so can't answer how the slopes were. But we didn't feel like the rest of the resort was so crowded it wasn't fun. We did the tubing and the line wasn't bad. Pools were ok too.

Devin,

Check out this thread I started a while back. We will be there after Xmas this year. I don't expect great ski condition though.

We had fun there 2 years ago, they try to make snow and there are lots of onsite activities to do (including the indoor waterpark). Also, it wasn't extremely crowded there, but there were quite a few people partaking in the activities.

However, since my kids are older and are avid snowboarders they want to go where there is more snow and more of a challenge.

We were there last year after Xmas through New Years

We're all novice skiers/snowboarders. It wasn't crowded to us at all. It didn't snow, but snow was made and we were able to ski and my sons attempted snowboarding, though they both hurt their wrists the first day and didn't attempt anything after that. I wouldn't worry about it being too crowded. For us, it was just a very laid back and relaxing vacation. We had some plans to visit wineries in the area, but got into the relaxing part to the point we didn't do anything. We're going to try the skiing and snowboarding again this coming year the third week of January. We're all looking forward to it. Massanutten is so big and has so much to do, I would go for it!
